• A deluxe model of the highly desirable Type 1 Beetle
• Meticulously restored to a high standard
• Original engine and transmission are fully restored
• Beautiful red leatherette interior

1,192 cc flat four-cylinder engine, 36 HP, four-speed manual gearbox, independent four-wheel suspension, drum brakes; wheelbase: 94.5”

Created by the legendary Ferdinand Porsche and his team in Wolfsburg, Germany, the classic Volkswagen Type 1 is a marvel of functional engineering and design, holding a special place in automotive history. During its production run from 1938 to 2003, it is estimated that more than 21 million "Beetles," as they affectionately came to be known, were sold worldwide, making it one of the best-selling cars of all time.

Available today is the proud recipient of a true nut and bolt groud-up restoration completed by Lenny Coop of West Coast Classic Restorations. The Beetle includes a thorough history - it was originally sold in Belgium in 1955 and remained there until 1968 when it was shipped to New York and kept as a daily driver for many years until the owner gifted it to his grandson, who shipped the car to Los Angeles in the ‘80s. The car was purchased and completely restored by West Coast Classic Restorations, and then purchased by Gunther Volkswagen in Florida - the largest VW dealer in the country. The car was on display for several years in the Gunther Collection until acquired by the consignor.

The car is beautifully finished in Polar Silver with the original German style red leatherette interior, German mohair carpets, and headliner. It’s a Deluxe model with chrome body side moldings and chrome dash trim and includes the Volkswagen tool kit and original jack. Like all European market cars, it has the Euro front and rear bumpers and the semaphore (flag like) lighted turn signals. Only the finest quality NOS parts were used, and the car sports the original and very rare glass tail lamps. Even the steering wheel and ivory shift knob are original to the car. It’s powered by its original single port 1,192 cc motor and four-speed gearbox, with a new six-volt electrical system in place, and rides on Firestone whitewall tires and the original wheels and hubcaps.

A well-restored Type 1 like this example has become a blue-chip collector car that is in constant demand, with great memories for millions of drivers, and a nostalgia factor that has kept its popularity alive for decades.
