ADDENDUM: Please note that this vehicle is a 1989, is titled as such and was purchased new by Shirley Temple Black.

3.2-litre inline six-cylinder engine, 217 HP, four-speed automatic gearbox, four-wheel independent suspension, power-assisted four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes with ABS; wheelbase: 110.2”

Shirley Temple was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and she made dozens of movies as a precocious and undeniably cute child actor. Her star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame is a lasting testament to the popularity and appeal of “America’s Sweetheart,” and she remains an American film icon today. As an adult, Shirley Temple Black served her country in a number of capacities, including as a United States Ambassador to Ghana and to Czechoslovakia. Ms. Black’s long governmental career also included serving as Chief of Protocol for the United States.

This beautiful 300 TE wagon was purchased new by Shirley Temple Black in 1989 and survives today with the original paint and bodywork both in excellent condition. Showing careful use, it is nicely optioned with a tan interior, air-conditioning, sunroof, and power seats, power doors, and power locks. An unusual option is the Electric Rear Window Shade (Code 540), no doubt purchased and put in place as an added security precaution for the world-famous American Ambassador. Pop the hood, and the inline six-cylinder engine is clean and correct and continues to provide smooth power delivery and the very quiet ride you’d expect from a Mercedes-Benz luxury wagon. It features the optional Acceleration Slip Control (Code 471) for secure traction, and the luxurious wagon is fully prepared to bite off big highway miles on your next road trip. The car has been fully and professionally serviced by Stuttgart Motors and remains in exceptional condition overall. It’s no slouch in terms of performance, with a 140-mph top speed, all while tooling down the highway with seating for five in the undeniable luxury and renowned safety that Mercedes is famous for delivering.

Ms. Temple Black owned this car from new until her passing in 2014 and included with its sale are all the purchase and registration documents and an Embassy Flag that affixes to the front bumper which was used by her during actual embassy visits. If a highly original, impeccably serviced Mercedes Station Wagon is of interest, you’ll find none finer that Shirley Temple’s personal 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300TE presented here. As offered, it is a highly documented example of one of the most interesting Mercedes-Benz models of the late 1980s.
