• A one owner, 29,000-mile car in pristine condition
• Highly original down to the wheels and tires
• 150 MPH top speed reported by Car and Driver
• Original Guards Red paint in excellent condition

2.5-litre inline aluminum block four-cylinder engine, 143 HP, three-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel independent semi-trailing arm suspension, power disc brakes; wheelbase: 94.5”

Built from 1982-1991, the 944 was one of Porsche’s most successful models ever, with sales over 160,000 units. The front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout had near perfect weight distribution, thanks to the rear transaxle, and a top speed near 150 MPH. Car and Driver was so impressed with the 944 they named it one of their 10 Best in 1983. It was faster and certainly far better equipped and more refined than the 924 it replaced and offered the Porsche enthusiasts a tremendous sports car value and a viable alternative to the classic 911.

This lovely Guards Red example features the original Porsche-built engine that has literally never been apart, simply maintained from new by a single owner. It’s clean and correct throughout, with innovative Mitsubishi engine balancing in the aluminum block four-cylinder handled by twin counter-rotating shafts. Bosch LE-Jetronic fuel injection provides the fuel and, with ventilated power disc brakes all around, Porsche made sure that safety was a priority. The interior is in like-new condition with leather seating and clean carpets. A new dash layout debuted in 1983, with classic analog gauges sharing the center console with the German automatic gearbox. The paint is original Guards Red applied in the Porsche factory, and the wider wheel arches make the profile of the 1983 944 one of the best.

Finding any car in this pristine condition is amazing, but even better when one caretaker chose this car 35 years ago then proceeded to enjoy it carefully and sparingly. He can claim every one of the 29,000 miles since taking it home from the dealer, and it’s highly original, down to the cast alloy wheels and Michelin tires. It’s been cherished since new and presents a rare opportunity for a lucky Porsche enthusiast today. The car is offered with a clean Carfax® document and the previous owner meticulously took care of every manual, document and tool provided with the car. For the very best in 944 provenance and performance, this 29,000-mile original Porsche is worthy of any enthusiast’s praise and recognition.
