Porsche’s name is famous in the world of motorsports as they have been building stellar competition cars for decades. In 1963, Porsche introduced one of the greatest sports cars ever built, the 911. The 911 proved to be one of the best road cars in the world and it was also a versatile platform as well. One of the great variants was the 912, which proved to be a nimble-handling compact car that was fun to drive and offered 30 miles per gallon. Once again, Porsche had created a great car that used a highly-efficient four-cylinder with a body that cheated the wind and made it an aerodynamic masterpiece.

Offered here is this 912 E finished in Grand Prix White with a highly desirable and seldom seen factory sunroof. This 912 E was restored, and maintains its dedication to authenticity with an all numbers-matching original drive train. Power comes from its completely rebuilt two-litre flat four with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection that’s mated to a completely rebuilt and resealed five-speed manual gearbox. All engine and gearbox work was performed by The Import Car Corner in Phoenix, Arizona; the documented work is included with this car. All suspension and brakes were also completely rebuilt with new brake discs, brake pads, brake lines and new shocks. The appearance of this 912 E is just as stunning as its mechanical condition with all paint and trim in excellent order. All glass is clean and clear including the electric rear window defroster. This 912 E rides well on radial tires for smooth response and it also retains its factory correct 14-inch Fuchs alloy wheels. The luggage compartment is clean and still has its original spare tire. All tools and the tool bag are accounted for and one tool still has its original factory tag in place.

Rare Porsches are often a central part of car collections and this 912 E truly demonstrates Porsche’s versatility in building a great car. The 912 E was a single-year production North America-only model and just 2,092 examples were built and of that fewer than 500 were equipped from the factory with a sunroof. With its 21-gallon fuel tank and gas-sipping engine, this 912 E’s driving range could easily exceed 600 miles. For extended touring in a car like no other, this 912 E is more than ready to hit the open road.
