327 cid V-8 engine, dual four-barrel carburetors, GM four-speed automatic overdrive transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, power-assisted four-wheel hydraulic brakes; wheelbase: 115”

Throughout its long history, GM’s Chevrolet Division produced some of the most popular automobiles ever conceived. Of all, Chevy’s wildly successful 1955-1957 models rank at the top of the list. In particular, the top-level 1957 Bel Air models stand to many enthusiasts as the ultimate expression of the concept. A growing list of powertrain choices, plus new competition-oriented high-performance parts, added substance to back up the sizzle, including Chevy’s immensely successful small-block V-8 engine, enlarged to 283 cubic-inch and available in four-barrel and ‘dual-quad’ tune. Competitive from the start on NASCAR ovals, drag strips, and streets across America, the ’57 Chevy has captivated restorers, customizers, drag racers, and hot rodders across the board, ranging from the basic 150 and 210 to the top-of-the-line Bel Air, a mainstay of today’s classic car market.

Visually arresting in its striking color combination, this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Two-Door Hardtop continues to benefit handsomely from a high-quality, frame-off restoration completed in 2010 with photographs on file depicting the car before, during, and after the work was completed. Unlike so many other Bel Airs on the market, it includes copies of the original sale paperwork revealing it was factory-equipped with Positraction and purchased new on April 3, 1957 by E.L Prince from Ernest Allen Motor Co. of Fort Worth, Texas. Subsequent owners are documented from Arlington, Texas in 1969 and later in Austin, most recently the consignor from Washington, who placed it into his impressive private collection. Carefully maintained and stored regardless of cost, the Bel Air is very well-detailed and set up for enjoyable driving as desired under today’s demanding conditions. Accordingly, power is delivered by a ‘Dual-Quad’ 327 V-8 backed by a GM four-speed automatic overdrive transmission for great cruising performance, and brakes are enhanced with a power-assisted, dual-circuit master cylinder. Creature comforts include modern air-conditioning, while the rest of the interior is well-restored to factory specification. Rear-fender skirts and a Continental spare-tire kit add curb appeal. Additional documents include a 1957 Chevrolet accessory guide, radio operation manual, restoration photos, and more. Reported by the exacting consignor to run and drive very well, consistent with the many great classics in his collection, this very interesting high-specification 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Two-Door Hardtop offers an outstanding opportunity to own and enjoy one of the most significant American cars from the “Fabulous ‘50s.”
