Auburn gears up for the psychedelic as Worldwide prepares a taste of the Grateful Dead for the Classic Car Capital of the World.

Auburn, Indiana. May 19th, 2011. Dead Heads stand by. Worldwide Auctioneers is all set to introduce a veritable rolling rock & roll heirloom to Auburn, Indiana this Labor Day Weekend, when one of the last and most significant artifacts of the Grateful Dead era is slated to go under the hammer at the The Auburn Auction. The customized and carefully preserved 1965 Gillig is the bus that accompanied the legendary psychedelic band as it toured the country. Resplendent in many original furnishings and fantastic authentic decor, its interior encapsulates the very essence of an era, with ceilings papered in hundreds of vintage rock posters featuring Janis Joplin, The Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix and The Who among others, along with plenty of authentic Grateful Dead icons like a “Steal your Face" blanket and dancing bear stickers and statuettes. Once the property of Butch Patrick or Eddie Munster of The Munster's fame, the bus has a strange and fascinating history as colorful as its psychedelic design.

"Prepare to be stunned", said John Kruse, Worldwide's Principal & Auctioneer. "The interior has to be seen to be believed. This truly is a poignant piece of rock history and probably the most important remaining artifact of an entire movement. I can guarantee there isn't anything else quite like it".

The Auburn Auction is scheduled for Friday, Saturday & Sunday September 2nd, 3rd & 4th, on the extensive grounds of Worldwide's U.S. headquarters in Auburn, Indiana, once again an integral part of the celebrated Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival Weekend. Following the success of last year’s much expanded auction, this year's event gets bigger and better again, with 1000 cars offered in both a mainstream and catalogue auction, car corral, swap meet, vendor booths, motor coach parking and great food. Full details are available online at wwgauctions.com and on Facebook. Early consignments for Saturday evening’s catalogue sale, The Main Event, include a superb 1955 Hudson Italia GT Coupe and 1930 Cadillac Convertible Coupe, with coachwork by Fleetwood. Consignments for both auctions are now invited and may be discussed with any of Worldwide’s Motorcar Specialists at 800. 990. 6789 or 1.260.925.6789. Media enquiries should be directed to Jo Snyder at 1.512.507.7867
