Barn Find Sawyer's Sandhills Museum Collection Slated for Worldwide Auctioneers
14th Annual The Houston Classic Auction

Auburn, IN. December 10th, 2014. Worldwide Auctioneers announced today that a remarkable and long concealed assortment of pre-war, brass era and steam-powered motorcars from the Sawyer's Sandhills Museum Collection will go under the hammer at its 14th annual The Houston Classic Auction. The collection features a fascinating group of rare and venerable motorcars that have lain untouched since the mid 1990s, when the Nebraska museum closed its doors for the last time. All ten of the vehicles in the collection were part of the museum for decades, and include such eclectic examples as a 1914 Jeffery Touring, 1911 Chalmers Touring, 1902 Rattler Runabout and 1913 Imperial Touring, as well as a 1900 Locomobile Model 2 Runabout and 1916 Paterson Touring. The unique collection will be presented for sale as found, and offered entirely without reserve during The Houston Classic Auction on April 25th, which runs in conjunction with the Concours d'Elegance of Texas over The Houston Classic Auction Weekend at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa.

"Here is a wonderful opportunity for the enthusiastic collector of brass era or pre-war motorcars to acquire something quite remarkable and in many cases, virtually never seen," said John Kruse, Managing Partner at Worldwide Auctioneers. "Whether simply refurbished or fully restored, most of the vehicles in this collection would serve as unique and exciting touring cars, and all would make for a fascinating owner experience which is what car collecting is all about."

The Sawyer's Sandhills Museum Collection was lovingly built up over the 1940s, '50s and '60s by Mr. George Sawyer Sr., a retired rancher and motorcar enthusiast, who travelled the country buying significant old automobiles that represented good value because "no-one knew what they were," said his son, Mr. George Sawyer Jr., who inherited the museum collection. All of the museum motorcars, with the exception of the steam powered 1900 Locomobile, were driven into the museum on acquisition and started up once a year until the late 1980s, with Mr. Sawyer and his wife enjoying regular Horseless Carriage jaunts in several. Also included in the collection are a 1924 Flint Touring, 1909 Buick Touring, 1924 Ford Model T Coupe and a 1949 Massey-Harris Model 30 Tractor.

Further details are available online at worldwide-auctioneers.com or by calling 800-990-6789 or +1-260-925-6789. Consignments of individual cars or collections to The Houston Classic Auction are still invited and may be discussed with any of Worldwide's Motorcar Specialists at 800-990-6789.

The Houston Classic Auction is scheduled for Saturday, April 25th, 2015, at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa, just northwest of Houston in Montgomery, Texas. The auction is one of the highlights of The Houston Classic Motorcar Weekend, which also features the 4th annual Concours d'Elegance of Texas, this year scheduled for the earlier date of Sunday, April 26th.
