Worldwide Auctioneers Proudly Offers the “Silver L88 Trifecta.” A Rare Trio of Matching Corvette L88s Highlighting The Houston Classic Auction. Come Join Us at the Greatest Car Show and Auction in Texas!

MONTGOMERY, TEXAS – December 29, 2015 – Worldwide Auctioneers is pleased to offer three Silver L88s – all from a single prestigious collection, at this year’s 15th annual The Houston Classic Auction, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa, on the shores of Lake Conroe, in Montgomery, Texas. According to John Kruse, Partner and Auctioneer at Worldwide Auctioneers, “Each car represents a significant piece of Corvette lore.” Kruse went on to mention, “Needless to say, having three pedigreed L88 roadsters as a set, offered for sale at one auction is unheard of and is an opportunity that will likely not present itself again. We are pleased and honored to sell these exceptional vehicles at our auction.”

The first example represented, a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Roadster is one of only 20 L88 Corvettes built in 1967, with outstanding provenance including Otis Chandler and Kevin Sudyam. The vehicle retains the factory “off-road” side-pipe exhaust installed by original owner and is Bloomington Gold certified.

The second example, a 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Roadster, one of only 80 L88 Corvettes built in 1968, with original documentation including the window sticker and Protect-O-Plate. It has multiple certifications from Judge Al Grenning, and is a factory M-22 “Rock Crusher” with heavy-duty manual transmission.

Completing the trifecta, a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Roadster, one of only 116 L88 Corvettes produced for 1969, and one of 10 with a 4.56:1 rear end. It is accompanied by an original fuel-tank sticker and is also Bloomington Gold certified and restored by the noted Corvette restoration experts at Nabers Brothers.

Rod Egan, Partner and Chief Auctioneer at Worldwide Auctioneers, spoke at length with the consignor, who noted that… “having these matching L88s has allowed me, to achieve a pinnacle of Corvette collecting.” We could not agree more.

Other early consignments to the auction include a 1965 Porsche 356 SC, one owner from new, a PCA national award winner with extensive file of documentation; it has factory Porsche tool kit and is a numbers matching car with Porsche COA. Worldwide will also offer a 1930 Cadillac V-16 All Weather Phaeton with Coachwork by Fleetwood. It is a 99.7-point CCCA winner and a premium version with a division window. Also consigned is a 1967 Porsche 911 S with lightweight R Spec conversion, known history and ownership. It has a matching numbers engine with Porsche COA. Included in the auction is a 1912 Locomobile Model 30 Torpedo. It is well-sorted and a proven tour car with original coachwork. And a 1930 Packard 740 Custom Roadster, formerly of the Ray Bowersox collection, it is one of only 11 known remaining examples. Included in the auction are two ‘Barrel Backs.’ The first is a 1941 Chrysler Windsor Town & Country ‘Barrel Back’ Nine-Passenger Station Wagon. An Ex Lloyd Mayes, it is a highly optioned example, with wood restoration by an award-winning expert. The second ‘Barrel Back’ is a 1942 Chrysler Windsor Town & Country ‘Barrel Back’ Nine-Passenger Station Wagon. It is one of just 16 remaining examples with a meticulous four-year restoration by a marque specialist – the finest example extant.
